PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES
As an independent psychological therapy practice, we focus on treating common mental health conditions,
such as depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, phobias, panic attacks and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
These conditions affect 1 in 4 adults and 1 in 10 children.
OUR SERVICES COVER
ANXIETY
Anxiety disorders aren’t caused by a single factor, but rather by a combination of things. A family history of anxiety, a person’s physical health, personality traits and stressful life experiences can all be contributing factors. Anxiety disorders are likely to develop over time and are usually sustained by unhelpful thinking patterns
DEPRESSION
Depression (major depressive disorder or clinical depression) is a common but serious mood disorder. It causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities, such as sleeping, eating, or working.  Even the most severe cases can be treated. The earlier the treatment can begin, the more effective it is.
PHOBIAS
A phobia is an excessive and irrational fear reaction. If you have a phobia, you may experience a deep sense of dread or panic when you encounter the source of your fear. The fear can be of a certain place, situation, or object. Unlike general anxiety disorders, a phobia is usually connected to something specific.
STRESS and PTSD
When the term ‘stress‘ is used in a clinical sense, it refers to a situation that causes discomfort and distress for a person and can lead to other mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression. Stress may also contribute to physical illness such as cardiovascular disease. PTSD is a set of distressing symptoms which set in following a terrifying event or series of events.
PANIC ATTACKS
A panic attack is a brief episode of intense anxiety, which causes the physical sensations of fear. These can include a racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, dizziness, trembling and muscle tension. Panic attacks occur frequently and unexpectedly and are often not related to any external threat.
RELATIONSHIPS
Relationship counselling provides an environment where communication is facilitated to help couples express their needs and to learn the skills to resolve their conflict. It is the process to recognize, and to better manage or reconcile, troublesome differences and repeating patterns of stress upon the relationship.

THERESA KORMAN
PRINCIPAL PSYCHOLOGIST
Registered Psychologist (AHPRA, MAPS), BSci (Psychology), Post Graduate Dip of Psychology, Certificate in Professional Psychological Practice, BHealth Sci (Nursing), Dip Applied Sci (Nursing)
I believe that therapy begins with the establishment of an empathetic and supportive relationship between psychologist and client. In the context of this relationship, clients are helped to understand how physical health, mental health, and social stressors may be effecting their overall health and well being.
Treatment takes place in a confidential environment and is directed toward helping clients develop a greater understanding of themselves and their challenges. The therapeutic relationship provides support to help clients make necessary changes.
Successful treatment results include:
• Improved sense of self
• New and healthy coping skills
• Improved interpersonal relationships
• Resolution of distress
FOLLOW UP CONSULTATIONS
Our consultations don’t end with you walking out of our practice. We write reports for lawyers or medical practitioners so you have a team working on your case behind the scenes with one aim, your return to a happy and healthy state of mind
PHONE AND SKYPE CONSULTATIONS
If you would like a consultation by phone or via Skype  online we offer these. It is always preferable to see your psychologist face to face for obvious reasons but we understand there are remote areas that require consultation, or special circumstances so will discuss your situation when you call.
